U2 frontman Bono narrowly dodged death yesterday as a plane door fell off during a flight!
The singer was heading from Dublin to Berlin on a private Learjet 60 D-CGEO when the rear door of the plane fell off mid-flight throwing Bono and his companions luggage out of the plane.
A source spoke to the Irish Daily Mail about the incident,
He was extremely lucky, the plane could have gone down. About an hour into the journey they heard a big thud coming from the rear of the plane.
They were startled for a bit but they continued on and made the descent into Berlin airport. When they landed they were horrified to learn that the compartment at the rear of the plane had completely detached.
The entire door along with Bono and his companions’ luggage had fallen out mid-air. They don’t know if the door and the contents landed over water or land but they were extremely lucky. They were at an altitude where anything could have happened and they are all feeling very lucky to be alive
The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigations Office are investigating the incident and are currently searching for clues around the area of the airport as to why this happened, as well as looking to retrieve the passengers luggage.
Bono was on his way to Dublin to collect an award with U2 at the Bambi Awards and to meet with German minister Gerd Mueller for a meeting about overseas aid. Luckily, despite the incident, his schedule still went to plan.
