Antemasque are in hot water with their fans after throwing items including a kettle and a jug of boiling water at fans during a performance at Westfest in Auckland, New Zealand.
No one knows the cause of the incident but fans are speculating it may be down to the relatively small turn out to the band’s mid afternoon set, the reception was small, with the audience mainly quiet for the duration of the set.
Whatever the reason, it’s going to be hard to excuse frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala‘s antics. One fan told The New Zealand Herald that “Cedric threw a plastic kettle full of boiling hot water towards me and my friends. We were standing about four-five metres back. I threw my hand up to catch it before it collided with my friend’s face … this bruised my hand and then splashed hot water all over him and my face. It bloody hurt. My friend’s arm went all burny pink.”
Another fan reported “Whenever the vocalist picked up an item you never knew if it was going to land on you, it was quite on edge. He actually threw his microphone at the crowd at the end but since it was on a cord it landed just off the stage.”
