Ron Howard shares on Instagram Donald Glover – Childish Gambino – playing the role of Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff movie about Han Solo.
If you didn’t know by now, the 33-year-old award-winning actor, screenwriter, comedian, rapper, producer and singer-songwriter Donald Glover does whatever he wants. The Atlanta star is part of the cast for the upcoming Star Wars spin off film about Han Solo. Glover will play the role of Lando Calrissian, the classic character that Billy Dee Williams originated in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi.
The forthcoming Star Wars Story recently suffered some teething problems. The co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were both sacked after the studio bosses believed that Han Solo spin off had too much of a “screwball comedy angle”. As a result, they quickly replaced them with Ron Howard whose steadied the movie back on course.
The film is set for release in 2018 on May 25th, but there’s no indication of movie’s title. It’s sure to be a huge success as Alden Ehrenreich follows in the footsteps of Harrison Ford as Han Solo. Also, Thandie Newton, Game Of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke, Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Woody Harrelson, and Michael Williams is part of the cast.
The best place to stay up-to-date with the upcoming Star Wars film seems to be Ron Howard’s social media. Recently, the Arrested Development narrator tweeted a picture of what’s thought to be Chewbacca’s wife!
