So, when you’re newly single and plunged back into the dating scene, this is one thing that all girls say to each other. One bit of advice that’s always given is to always let the guy chase you. It’s the 21st century, girls, so if you like a guy you’re dating or are friends with – whatever they are to you – go chase ’em and let them know you’re into them!
- “Girls don’t masturbate.”
This fairytale is ready and waiting to be chucked in the bin. When you’re in your twenties, this is your time to explore yourself not only in the career department but sexually. You need to discover what gets you going and what is just a big fat no. Knowing what you want in the bedroom department makes it easier to say no and makes you hella more confident. You go girl!
- “Women shouldn’t travel by themselves!”
When you get the travel bug, there’s nothing better than saying ‘f*ck it’ and booking a solid 5-6 months away. It’s easier said than done, maybe, but what’s to stop your gender from travelling? I know girls that have flown to the other side of the world by themselves and had the best time of their lives. You’ll meet so many people whilst travelling and will never be alone. What’s the worst that can happen?
- “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
By this I don’t mean don’t start fighting with every girl that gets on your tits. What I do mean is that, if someone isn’t treating you right, stand up for yourself. Life’s too short to be treated like shit. That guy who keeps standing you up? Give him a piece of your mind. Don’t agree with what your mates say? Tell them and then come to a peaceful agreement.
- “Women should be at home cooking and cleaning.”
Over the last few years I’ve noticed more and more feminists reaching out to their fellow females and preaching a ‘do what makes you happy,’ attitude, and that’s how things should be. Log into social media sites and post something of this ilk, though, and you might possibly be ripped to shreds.
No matter what anyone says, we are strong, independent sassy women and don’t need anyone telling us to get back to the kitchen! Want your dream job? Go kick ass and get it! Want a family? Do it. Want to travel? Go wild and splurge and create amazing memories!
