The folks in charge of organising this year’s Slam Dunk Festival have really unleashed a mother load of killer bands who are all ready to tear up the UK. We’re expecting an amazing turn out this year and here’s just a few reasons why. We’ll see you all in the pits! *raises horns*
You Me At Six
Where better to start this list than 2015’s headliners, You Me At Six. Say what you like about them, they may not be the heaviest of bands but you’re an idiot if you don’t love them. You Me At Six are bound to bring an epic show to the table with a setlist full of old favourites like: ‘Save It For The Bedroom’ and ‘Stay With Me’. Mix that up with some of their edgier rocky numbers like: ‘Bite My Tongue’ and ‘Time Is Money’ and a sprinkling of tunes from their newest record, Cavalier Youth and we are in for quite the party. Prepare yourself for screaming girls; chicks dig the Franceschi.
Architects
Headlining the Monster Energy Stage we have UK metal titans, Architects. After an extensive 11 year career, the lads from Brighton have massed a massive collection of shouty ear porn, that’s likely to upset your elderly relatives. Let’s just say we’re not expecting a ‘mellow’ performance from Architects next week, make sure you’re limbered up and ready to move or the festival staff will be cleaning you up with a mop. With an arsenal of beautifully brutal tracks including: ‘These Colours Don’t Run‘, ‘Naysayer’ and ‘C.A.N.C.E.R’ just to name a few, get ready for breakdowns. Let’s go fucking mental. But look out for each other yeah? Cool.
While She Sleeps
Fresh off their killer co-headline tour with Cancer Bats, Sleeps are right back at it ready to bezerk at Slam Dunk. Their latest album, Brainwashed is an absolute gem and houses some total mosh masterpieces. Teamed with the bangers from 2012’s This Is The Six and we’re in for an evening of total chaos, fantastic. Another worthy example of the marvel that is current British metal, Sleeps are gonna crush it this year and they’re counting on all of us to help fly that flag with them. North, South or Midlands who cares, let’s show these boys what we’re made of.
Lower Than Atlantis
Something a little less aggressive for you next, but killer none the less. UK rockers Lower Than Atlantis are sure to be on point on the main stage this year, with the velvety tones of frontman Mike Duce which is sure to have the ladies dropping all over the shop. With their self-titled album coming out late last year, LTA have already smashed out a sell out UK tour as well as accompanying A Day To Remember across Blighty since then. These guys can really perform, and the UK knows it. Get your asses down, you’ll be mad to miss them.
Zebrahead
Here’s one for all you baggy trousered skate punks out there, Zebrahead have come to party all the way from Orange County California. Get ready to have one hell of a party and to dance your freaking asses off, this ones gonna be such a laugh! With a boat load of killer albums at their disposal expect classics like: ‘Falling Apart’, ‘Anthem’ and ‘Rescue Me’ to be the reason you spill that expensive beer you queued for a month for. Did we mention they also did a gnarly Spice Girls cover? Don’t act like you don’t know the words guys, just be ready for some pure 90’s cheese!
Stick To Your Guns
Another band from sunny California now, let’s hope they’re not put off by the wonderful British weather. Either way Stick To Your Guns are going to crush it, no doubt whatsoever. With their newest album, Disobedient being absolute gold mine of hardcore punk magic, get ready to tie those shoes tight and jump feet first into the madness. Where ever you’re at, Leeds? Wolverhampton or London? We can ensure you, Stick To Your Guns are going to rip your city a new one, and we can’t fucking wait till they do!
Bury Tomorrow
To round things off, let’s not forget this years special guests! So it was recently announced that Bury Tomorrow would be joining the roster we got pretty stoked indeed. Yet another British band who kick fucking ass, talk about patriotic. Bury Tomorrow have being raising the bar as they climb the beer and puked stained ladder of UK metalness and are certainly showing no signs of slowing down. Their latest album Runes being an absolute beast, brace yourselves for a mammoth set. Slam Dunk let’s do this!
There really are countless reasons why we can’t wait for Slam Dunk Festival this year, but we’d be here all day if we covered them all! Only one week to go before the party begins and we’re sure you’re all just as (if not more) excited as we are. Let’s all have a killer time, look out for each other in the pits and before you know it 2016 will be upon us.
