It’s almost festival season, folks! Yes, that’s right. It’s coming up to that beautiful, sweaty time of year where the shows are larger, the music is louder and the people way more annoying—but that’s okay because the killer festival lineups make up for them.
And first up for the festival season is our favourite traveling May fest, Slam Dunk. The lineup this year, as we all know, is pretty wonderful. We have bands like electro rockers Enter Shikari headlining the main stage, Bowling For Soup and ska crews Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake on the Fireball Stage, Tonight Alive, The Bronx, and Memphis May Fire. But one band we’re extremely stoked for is the nostalgia-inducing pop-rock crew Cute Is What We Aim For—especially since they are playing their debut album Same Old Blood Rush With A New Touch in full.
So in honor of Cute’s UK return, we decided to list our 5 favourite songs from Same Old Blood Rush. And since we all know that Cute are the kings of witty one-liners—the kind of one-liners that you would use in your MySpace bio or as your MSN status—it wasn’t easy. Our little 2007-Myspace-loving hearts wanted to write down all 12! [/tps_header]
1. ‘The Curse Of Curves’
Okay, so there was no way this wasn’t going to be number 1 on our list! This upbeat, punchy pop rock gem is the tune that defined Cute Is What We Aim For. Ask anyone about this band and their response will be this track. This eloquent tune is just true, classic angsty pop punk circa 2006.
