So this is enough to make you feel old – In Love And Death is now ten whole years old. Having already released a stellar debut produced by John Feldmann, The Used were already on the path to success in 2004. The album was critically acclaimed back in the day and is still adored by fans a decade later.

Sadly, a lot of the songwriting of In Love And Death was based on the death of vocalist Bert McCracken‘s pregnant girlfriend. Re-listening armed with this knowledge, the emotionally raw lyrics are even more penetrating and disturbing. But that’s just how The Used like it.
