Yes folks, we have reached that time of week again – time for us to unveil which rad band we can’t get enough of this week. We first heard of the boys in Midwestern band Tiny Moving Parts when they recently supported Into It. Over It. and Modern Baseball on their brief co-headline stint across Europe and UK. Since then, the band of brothers has slowly invaded our playlists.
Growing up in a small town of 3,000 people called Benson, Minnesota there really isn’t that much to do; so brothers Matt and Billy Chevalier along with their cousin Dylan Mattheisen formed a band back in their wee teenage years. These guys started young – and when we say young, think 12 or 13 young! – and have now been playing together for over a decade, but only assumed the name Tiny Moving Parts in 2008.
Currently signed to Triple Crown Records, the band has got two albums under their belt (2013’s This Couch is Long & Full of Friendship and 2014’s Pleasant Living). Despite being one of the many bands that fall under this so-called #emorevival, their sound isn’t quite that easy to classify. With a nice mix of emo, math rock, post hardcore, alternative and punk to name a few, their tunes are probably best described to fall under their own Tiny Moving Parts genre. We’re clearly having a tough time trying to narrow it down here, so why not check out the music video for ‘Always Focused’ and decide for yourself:
