Talk Us Down are one of the few British bands that dare to venture into the well-trodden American territory of pop-punk. Since forming only in 2013, the South East five-piece had already managed to release their debut EP The Cure to Growing Older – the perfect title to entice any pop-punk fan! They’ve even nabbed some BBC radio airtime with the first two singles they posted to YouTube, all before the departure of their original vocalist in 2014.
But in October last year, vocalist Luke Besant stepped in as their new frontman and, since then, Talk Us Down have gone from strength to strength! They spent the end of 2014 in the studio recording a brand new track to christen the band’s new line-up, and this new material has finally come to light in the form of single ‘Miami’.
‘Miami’ begins with a heavier sound than you might expect from a pop-punk band, but when the verse kicks in it has a similar vibe to early demos from bands that we now know and love as successful pop-punk artists. The lower pitch and distinct British tone of the vocals moves Talk Us Down away from the typical American sound, whilst keeping the bouncy hooks and insanely catchy chorus that make it an irresistible piece of pop-punk.
