Midlands quartet, You Slut!, have announced that they are calling time on the band. The quartet who specialise in the niche category of math-rock had been together for 10 years, culminating with their critically acclaimed full length, Medium Bastard, released in 2012.

The band posted a farewell message on their official Facebook page in which they mentioned: highlights of their time on the road, a Radio 1 and Kerrang! session, Gav’s infamous pizza and a mind-blowing gig at ArcTanGent in 2013.

You Slut! said: “Special thanks go to Phil and Neil of Stressed Sumo Records who unleashed our music to a wider audience than just our practice room. And huge kisses, hugs and slightly uncomfortable fondles for all of you for your wonderful, continued support over the years. Without you coming to our gigs, buying our music and merch and tittering at our frankly awful jokes then we’d probably have just sat becoming world beaters at Pro Evolution Soccer.”

With their split in mind we take a look at 5 ways you can survive in the often uncomfortable world of math-rock. You can also check out the 4-piece performing ‘Shellsock’ in a live session for the BBC below.
