When our lovely editor came to me and asked if I wanted to rank Brand New‘s entire album discography from best to worst (what even classifies as ‘worst’ in the case of this band?), I excitedly agreed. For starters, I just wanted another excuse to talk about Brand New, not thinking about the sleepless nights that would ensue trying to figure out how to compile this list. It’s not an easy task, and most people will have their own idea of what the band’s best material is, but whatever, challenge accepted. [/tps_header]
The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Probably not the most popular opinion, but not an unpopular opinion either. So many people claim that Deja Entendu is the band’s best work; however when considering the albums as a whole, there’s no denying that TDAG is much better. The band managed to overcome the fear of a sophomore album slump with their last release, but they completely outdid themselves with this one. It’s almost impossible to explain what’s so great about this album and do it justice; it’s dark, unpolished and very likely to leave you an emotional trainwreck. This record still holds so much significance to a great number of people so many years after its release, a timeless classic.
