Sometimes HTF head along to shows and a support band really stand out. That happened last weekend when we headed to Islington Academy in London to catch Elliot Minor. The final support band were three lads from South Wales who really caught our attention. The band seemed familiar and it wasn’t until we got home and researched that we realised vocalist Neil Starr used to be a part of the Welsh Attack! Attack! and it all made sense.
We had a really quick chat with the band.
HTF: Hey guys, for those people out there who haven’t heard of States and Empires how would you describe the band?
We are a 3 piece alternative rock band , taking main influence from 90’s grunge/alt rock
HTF: You’ve been a band less than a year yet seem so tight as a band. Do you think coming from previous bands helps?
Yeah i think so , we have been musicians in the industry for 10 years so we have plenty of experience in playing live . We also found a special chemistry as a 3 piece really early on
HTF: The band are from South Wales, how is the local music scene around you guys?
The music scene in South Wales has always been strong, loads of worldwide successful bands have come from near us, which is inspiring as a new band. I think the south Wales scene is ready for the next big band
HTF: You recently played some shows with Elliot Minor how did the shows go for you?
We found them amazing . Their fans were really fun and gave us a great reception .
HTF: You’re heading over to Germany later this month with John Coffey, have you ever played shows in Germany before? Do you think you’ll spend all day drinking German beer and eating Schnitzel?
Haha. We have actually played way more shows in Germany than anywhere else , at present we have played 20 shows in Germany. Its a fantastic country to play and the people are very friendly
HTF: You have recorded an album, are you proud of the finished product?
Album is recorded but not released , its due to be released in September ’14 . We can not wait for people to hear it :D
HTF: Finally what does the rest of the year hold in store for States and Empires?
Release the album , tour as much as possible and spread the word of States and Empires across the world.
