Asking Alexandria are back – not that they ever really went away – and have dropped a brand new video for ‘Let It Sleep’ , the first track off their forthcoming album The Black, set for release on March 25th.
Flitting between metalcore and emo, its fair to say AA are a dark band. This latest video makes headway in presenting the band as the torch-bearers for the return of emo. Who needs My Chemical Romance anymore, aye? Here’s why the video is so terrifically emo:
- It’s shot in what can only be described as an abandoned warehouse with ripped sheets, dark lighting and smoke…it looks like a horror movie, essentially.
- To build on the horror movie style, every so often, the camera flickers and Ben Bruce’s demon eyes are on display. Speaking about the track and video, Bruce says “everyone has their inner demons. Everyone has their own mental fights they have to deal with. Don’t let them consume you. Let them serve as a reminder that things could always be worse. Fight your inner demons and find your inner peace.”
- It’s got the emo fringes, leather jackets and classic black attire: standard.
- The track itself is full of melodic riffs, killer breakdowns and throat-scratching screams.
