Have you gotten tired of all the Moose Blood talk yet? Of course you haven’t. Every so often a band comes along and the way a generation of fans quickly latches onto them, gives off the promise that they will be around for many years to come; providing the soundtrack for first kisses, graduations, heartbreaks, summer road trips – the whole nine yards. Whatever ‘hype’ there is surrounding Moose Blood, we’re very much a part of it, and here are the reasons we love them.
Artwork is really important to them.
Whether it is in terms of photography for their EP/ album covers that always fittingly match the mood conveyed by the respective songs; or the design of their merch, it’s clear a lot of thinking goes into creating that overall Moose Blood aesthetic. Take for instance the campaigning for their forthcoming sophomore album Blush, the cover of which is pink, resulting in matching pink tinted promo images.
Their partnership with Beau Burchell.
Not only has Beau Burchell produced stunning albums for his own band Saosin, he’s also got impressive titles by the likes of Gallows and Underoath under his belt. Having teamed up with Beau for their breakout debut album I’ll Keep You In Mind…, we’re glad Moose Blood are as firm believers of “never change a winning team”as we are, having yet again partnered up with the producer for their forthcoming album.

They’re becoming more comfortable on stage.
When we first had the chance to catch Moose Blood live, they were four shy guys behind their instruments playing a great rock show. Since the release of IKYIM, they’ve had a whirlwind of a couple of years filled with relentless touring. With more and more nights spent playing to a growing crowd, we’re seeing them look more at home on that stage. Though still as humble and laid back as they were on day one, they’re showing us they don’t belong anywhere other than under those bright lights.
Glorious tour line-ups.
Time and time again the Canterbury four-piece have played gigs with award-winning lineups (that is, if awards were given for brilliant tour lineups); whether it is on a support slot or by taking out rad bands as their own support. Their next unmissable EU & UK tour comes this September/October, following the new album release with four stellar opening acts: Pup, Turnover, Boston Manor and Luca Brasi.
Blush sounds fantastic.
From what we’ve heard off of the forthcoming sophomore album so far, one thing’s for sure – sonically this sounds very different from their last album. In tracks like ‘Honey’ and ‘Knuckle’, we’re shown a lighter side to Moose Blood and it’s a progression we’ve thoroughly enjoyed. On the other hand, the brooding ‘Sulk’ and latest single ‘Cheek’ remind us what it is about the band we fell in love with in the first place. Either way, we’re sure there won’t be any shortage of powerful, heavy lyrics to inspire a number of future tattoos.
