As you may already be aware, Cambridge quintet Lonely The Brave‘s latest track ‘Backroads’ tackles themes of loss and liberation.
This range of emotional lyrics has only been enhanced by the release of the new official video to coincide with the track. The video, filmed ‘amidst the backdrop’ of Ukraine’s current political climate, is socially and geographically relevant.
Progressing from the streets of Kiev, in ruined buildings and dark conditions, into the Ukrainian countryside, the video represents the relief of many Ukrainian natives who find peace outside of the city. Specific lyrics including: “I’ll be the sky, and you be the bird” represent this theme.
The band have gained an even greater recognition throughout the past year, performing strong sets at Download and Glastonbury Festival. Lonely The Brave have also, very recently, signed to Columbia Records and are set to perform at Reading and Leeds festival.
