Velvet Vixens

Perfect for those festive nights fast approaching, the velvet trend is a timeless classic. Seen at Ralph Lauren, Valentino and Chloé, the full-length velvet dress was all over the AW15 runways.

High street favourite Zara is nailing this trend, pairing their versions with chunky, black ankle boots to give the classic velvet frock that added edge. At £79.99, try this long velvet dress out for size and be the envy of all your work friends at this year’s Christmas party.

Quilted Jackets

Quilted jackets were a highlight of the AW15 catwalks. Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi created a larger-than-life quilted dress/coat, which was paraded down the Fendi AW15 runway at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, whilst model Anna Ewers walked at Milan Fashion Week in this nineties-inspired, floor-length, quilted Moschino number.

It wasn’t just the catwalks that championed the quilted jacket. Hottest rapper in the game right now, Drake, showcased his gif-worthy moves in his iconic Hotline Bling video last month, wearing a red Moncler quilted jacket, making it the must-have piece of the season.

Head to Uniqlo to pick up this Down Hooded Ribbed Coat for £99.90.

The military trend rears its head every year in one form or another. This season, the trend is more subtle in its approach. The synonymous khaki-green colours of the military uniform take a step back to allow more formal navy blue and black tones to come to the fore. Gold-trimmed navy blue jackets with fur hems were seen at Gucci whilst fierce looking, long black capes with leather piping had their moment at Valentino.

Olivier Rousteing, famous for his military inspired Balmain collections, debuted his highly anticipated Balmain x H&M collection earlier this month. The collection featured a sell-out military-style velvet blazer with a silk collar and gold detailed buttons. Check out Mango’s £59.99 double-breasted jacket, seen here on Cara Delevingne, for your piece of one of this season’s hottest trends.

Jersey Dresses

If the AW15 runways are anything to go by, the rise of the normcore style in 2014 – a favourite with fashion bloggers and models alike – doesn’t look to be going anywhere soon. Jersey dresses are a huge trend this season, seen at Céline, Stella McCartney and Chloé.

The jersey dress adds a more feminine silhouette to the classic chunky knit and works perfectly with trainers, boots or a pair of lace-up strappy heels, making this the go-to trend for the perfect day-to-night outfit ready for those frosty winter months. Bag this flared dress from Zara, for £39.99, before everyone else does.
