Yashin have been rather quiet over the past year or so, but if their recent performance at London’s o2 Brixton Academy is anything to go by, the Scottish (and American) metalcore troupe are definitely not going anywhere on us any time soon.
Here’s four reasons why it was brilliant:
1. Their new stuff is awesome and A LOT heavier
The lads played recent single ‘Dorothy Gale’, which sounds absolutely killer live, as well as a couple of other new tracks. After getting a delectable taste of the new album, we can’t wait to hear what the rest of The Renegades has in store!
2. Harry’s stagedive into the crowd
Clean vocalist Harry Radford decided to bridge the gap between himself and the audience by jumping into the crowd mid-song, much to the screams and delight of their fans. It was a special moment and you can tell the guys are stoked to be back doing what they love.
3. The Setlist
From the newbies to the old favourites such as ‘D.E.A.D’ and ‘Make It Out Alive’, Yashin’s set had bodies moving and people singing along from start to finish. The band’s chemistry onstage also added to the experience and their passion was clear to see.
4. Their heartfelt tribute to the recent attacks on Paris
Yashin dedicated their final song ‘Make It Out Alive’ to the victims of the recent tragedies in Paris, proving even more so what fantastic guys they are. It felt more like an encore than the closer to an opening set, leaving us in anticipation as to when the band will announce plans for a headline tour. With their recent move to Sony Records and a more refined sound, the possibility of Yashin headlining this very venue in the near future is definitely credible.
