Band: Twin Atlantic
Release: Free
Release Date: 25th April 2011
Twin Atlantic release the second single ‘Free’ from their upcoming album also titled ‘Free’. Having such huge success with ‘Vivarium’ back in 2009, there has been a lot of hype and anticipation for this second album. If their first single ‘Edit Me’ and ‘Free’ are anything to go by then we are going to be shaken up once again by this exceptional four piece from Scotland.
Having a cracking beginning with calming vocals from leading man Sam McTrusty, and a beautiful piano solo from guitarist Barry McKenna, you know you are going to be in for a treat. Not even one minute in and you find yourself banging your foot on the floor and rocking out, as the tempo rise is imminent.
The lyrics are by far the best part of the song, along with the cracking riffs and prominent Scottish vocal throughout. After just a few listens, you literally know every word; so saying this single is catchy is quite clearly an understatement.
‘I fell in love with love rock n roll until I found out it was false; it plastered on a face for me’, ‘Where’s your passion where’s your fire tonight?’ and ‘I set my body on fire so I could be free’ you cannot help but belt them out with Sam.
This track is best described as a good driving record; you would probably get a few stares at the traffic lights but undoubtedly, it would be worth it. Such a powerful track and such an exceptional band. Bring on the album!
