So the Ke$ha album has been out for a good few weeks now so why the hell have Hit The Floor taken so long to get a damn review up I hear you scream! Well truth is we’ve spent way too long listening to it, dancing around like idiots and enjoying it to get round to writing anything!
Animal is the debut album from everyone’s new favorite drunk party girl Ke$ha and is full of party tunes to get anyone in the mood for an awesome night of sin. From the opening track “Your Love Is My Drug”, which is defiantly one of the best on the album, you get straight in the party mood. The track is Pop perfection from start to finish and mega catchy. The fact it also ends with her saying ‘I like your beard’ made this a definite highlight being a bearded man myself. Glad to see she appreciates the glories! Winner!
Single ‘Tik Tok’, which I’m sure you have all been hearing a lot of lately, keeps the party and dancing up with Ke$ha announcing “Now the party don’t start till I walk in!” and this continues with “Take It Off”, a slightly darker track and then the awesome “Kiss N Tell” which again is catchy as hell and another album favorite. This is plenty more action throughout the album with “Party At A Rich Dudes House’, “Backstabber” and not forgetting latest single “Blah! Blah! Blah!” with 3OH!3 sure to bring out the drunken dance superstar in all of us.
As well as the party tracks there’s a few surprise’s with tracks such as “Hungover” and “Animal” which really change the tone and show off that Ke$ha can really sing. Hungover especially is a great track and it’s name defiantly suits the pattern of the album as by this point you have danced your ass off and probably feel a bit dizzy and the need to have a lil bit of sick. “Blind” and “Dancing With Tears In My Eyes” also bring something new with a more subdued tone and show a more mature style.
Boot’s and Boys and V.I.P and Dinosaur unfortunately don’t really do it for me compared to the other tracks but by the time they are on you can easily swing past them without bringing down the riot.
Over all Ke$ha has bought the party back to pop with this album and will be interesting to see how long she can keep it going before the harsh world of the music industry decides to throw her aside for the next big thing. For now though whack on this album and meet me in the back with the jack and the jukebox!
