Band: Idiom

As this was the first time in two years that I have seen Idiom live I was apprehensive on what to expect. They were good two years ago but after having a more than impressive 2010 after supporting the likes of Devil Driver and 36 Crazyfists on their UK tour surely the only way is up?
After announcing a support slot at a local show, I could not resist and had to attend to see how good the band actually had become.
I was blown away with how awesome they have genuinely become. Matt Sharland, lead vocalist has such a rapport with his audience whilst he is on stage it is truly fantastic for his audience. He is such a comedian as he cracks jokes between tracks and then his sarcastic facial expressions during his vocal performances are quite brilliant. His vocal range is amazing and is roars are as impressive as they always were. I was genuinely stood there saying ‘Wow’.
The rest of the band also deserves a mention, as they remain as tight and as crisp as they always were.
Idiom always get compared to Rage Against The Machine as they to tend to sound quite similar, but how is that a bad thing? Getting compared to one of the best bands of all time is surely a compliment in itself.
My favourite track of the night had to be ‘Twelve Bar Blues’ as you cannot help but nod along and really enjoy it. Even though I was stood right next to the speakers in the non existent space in The Cavern I didn’t seem to care that my ear drums felt they were close to bursting or the madness of the mosh pit was literally rather dangerous.
Awesome show as I should have expected and I wish Idiom the every success in 2011. I believe them to have a bigger and brighter future ahead of them.
