Band: Funeral For A Friend
Release: Broken Foundations (Single)
Release Date: 13th June
After 10 years as a band, you would think it would be hard to keep things fresh. However, Funeral For A Friend have managed to somewhat re-invent themselves on latest album ‘Welcome Home Armageddon’. Third single ‘Broken Foundations’ is a shining example of this.
The latest offering from the Welsh rockers is a bone crunching pelt of post hardcore that will literally knock your socks off. Whilst the track definitely has some new flavour, it still has hints of what hardcore fans have always loved about this band.
The song kicks straight in with a powerful riff driven verse, before opening up to a big sing along chorus. It goes a little off track when they throw in a face melting guitar solo, which doesn’t really seem to fit, and frankly sounds a little lame. But then they pull you back into the chorus right up until giving you a sneaky little hint of the riff once more right at the end.
It’s evident that the band have decided to somewhat go back to their roots on this album, and this track definitely has the flair of debut album ‘Casually Dressed and Deep In Conversation’. This single is a definite sign of the band making a comeback, and I’m sure we will be hearing even more from them in the future.
