Gibson Guitar Studios was the venue for tonight’s gig and we have found an exciting new sound in the band Foreign Office.
Foreign Office have already been compared to the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip, Roxy Music and Talking Heads but I personally think this band stands out on their own. With their 70s influenced funky guitar riffs mixed with electronic groves and even some 80s post-punk influences thrown in for good measure and a strong frontman (and bass player) in Paul Cousins, you cannot help liking this four piece band from Hackney. Their toe-tapping electro funk and repetitive and sometimes dark lyrics go down a treat with the crowd who dance along in the sauna like conditions of the venue due to the unseasonable warm April weather.
On Repeat and Leaving the House were my stand out tracks of the evening both of which epitomise their distinctive sound which will no doubt catapult Foreign Office to big things in the future.
