It’s hard to judge a band on their only single. When there’s no other music to compare it to. How can you check for consistency? Well, you can’t. But first impressions are important, and our first impression is extremely positive.
For Doppelganger, what their debut single, ‘Hate The Things You Love‘, does, is give you a pretty good idea of where they’re heading. The band sound pissed off. They sound grumpy. But they also sound bloody great. What ‘Hate The Things You Love‘ really does, is make you champ at the bit for more of the same.
Doppelganger mingle dirty melodies and occasional, distant screams with catchy as hell hooks and fierce lyrics. It’s a combination which means that it’s actually quite hard to place a genre on the band. It remains to be seen whether these Welsh rockers (we’ll call them rockers for now…) will deliver the goods in the long run. But for now, it’s a cracking start.
