Release Date: 29th April 2013.
Blue are back! Yes this four piece boy band have returned with their fourth studio album ‘Roulette’, making it their first new album in ten years. This record includes twelve new tracks, as well as their 2011 Eurovision entry song ‘I Can’, but with all three of their previous albums being UK number 1’s will ‘Roulette’ follow the same success?
The album kick-starts with their lead single ‘Hurt Lovers’. This beautiful ballad really emphasises the bands great vocals with their harmonies all-blending really well together. ‘Without You’ is the next track, and it’s a more upbeat ballad which has a great radio feel to it, so surely has to be their next single release.
The pace then picks up and the rest of the album is pretty much very lively from then onwards. The R&B vibe is definitely evident on lots of tracks, with songs ‘Ayo’ and ‘Heart On My Sleeve’ drawing similar resemblances with a Justin Timberlake music style.
It’s hard to pick a favourite as each song is just as addictive as the next but ‘We’ve Got Tonight’ and ‘Paradise’ really stand out and have to be two of the best tracks on the album, particularly because they’re extremely catchy.
‘Roulette’ is definitely a great record, showing how much this band has matured. It’s got the perfect mix of lively R&B club anthems as well as some perfect pop ballads.
For someone who used to have Blue’s posters on my bedroom wall 10 years ago, well 10 years on, I’ve grown up and so have they, but this album certainly does not disappoint.
‘Roulette’ is out Monday (April 29th), make sure you buy your copy!
