Architects have had a very successful twelve months and landing a spot on this tour perhaps being one of their best achievements to date. It was a sold out show tonight and the floor was packed full of smiling faces and eager fans waiting upon this amazing and now well known band from Brighton.
As they arrived on stage one by one, it was clear to see by any onlooker that they were a popular band within the line up tonight. Young girls were screaming for leading man Sam Carter and sweat ridden teenagers began to form huge mosh pits. The 02 Academy in Bristol had come to life as the band opened with ‘Day In Day Out’; taken from their newest album ‘The Here and Now’.
It is common knowledge that their newest album has caused a lot of controversy between fans about its difference from their previous work but tonight that opinion was nowhere in sight; every single fan knew the words to each track that was played from it.
Best tracks by far were firstly, ‘Delete, Rewind’, a beast of a track with ridiculously mind-blowing riffs and amazing vocals from front man Sam Carter. His talent is unbelievable and sounds even better live then on their record. Second best track being ‘Heartburn’, another clear crowd pleaser tonight. Fans sat upon their best friends shoulders and sang their hearts out as Sam gives another note perfect performance.
There was no sign of any tracks from their first album ‘Ruin’ but perhaps that is a good thing? They are a much better band now and have progressed their music to an extremely high level so why live in the past?
‘Follow The Water’ and ‘Hollow Crown’ from their second full length album release also titled ‘Hollow Crown’, were the karaoke tracks tonight. Sam did not really need to sing any lyrics as the fans knew them all – it was awesome to watch! Every member of the band stood and smiled in oar of the crowd; what a feeling this must be for them.
They closed with the obvious track ‘Early Grave’ and the room was set on fire as the mosh pits went crazy beyond belief and the heat in the room rose to an unbearable level.
A perfect performance from the band and HTF look forward to seeing them in the middle of a field at a festival this year. Well done guys! If you have not picked up their new album ‘The Here And Now’ yet be sure to, we guarantee you an epic listen!
