The Qemists headlined the Uprawr stage at this years Breakout Festival in Brighton and they stole the show. Find out why here!

Pretty much every band around now adds beats and samples to their tracks and claim they ‘defy genres’ and most of them do a poor job. Breakout Festival welcomes The Qemists: the true perfectionists of music that can’t be pigeonholed into one set genre. Yes it’s rock: they have a live band, their beats are heavy and Breakout Festival showed you could form a mosh pit for them as big as ANY metal band! But yes they’re also drum n bass, electro, dub step….. the list could go on. Think Pendulum meets The Prodigy, but better. Yes we did go there: better!

Having been totally in the dark about this band prior to seeing them we were blown away. From the throbbing strobe lights to the heart-attack inducing beats we were hooked from the first few sections of their opening track. Every track pretty much merged into one: but not in the way we hate where everything sounds the same and it could have been one forty five minute long song, but in the way that everything flowed and seemed effortless.

Seduced by the dance floor but still welding the heaviest of instruments, The Qemists glide through their set with the ease of a headline band of large proportions. Latest single ‘Jungle’ encites a dance competition in the crowd – not that they needed any encouragement – and carnage unfolds.  The Qemists are everything you need in your life and more so do yourself a favour and check them out. But remember your dancing shoes.
