Paradigm are, without a doubt, a breath of fresh air in an industry saturated with carbon copies. They claim that they’re for fans of bands like Muse and Soundgarden, but their sound is totally unique, filling a gap in the market that nobody ever knew was needed — but it certainly is. Their debut record, Realize, is the kind of material that will revolutionise in 2016, likely seeing Paradigm become the “band about town”.
From the very first track, ‘Desire‘, listeners are subjected to something that sounds so effortlessly brilliant. Its drive alone seems inspired by the dark side of 80’s pop, with massive, vibrating vocals unlike anything else you’ve ever heard before. The guitar solo that finishes off the song, however… well, that’s the crowning glory. Paradigm have clearly set themselves some goals when it comes to their performance on this EP, and already they’re hitting their targets.
‘Your Darker Side‘ follows, a stripped down affair that allows its listener to focus on its lyrics which are beautifully written and dripping with emotion. Paradigm certainly have a knack for songwriting as well as performing, making them perfect all-rounders and definite contenders for the big leagues. The third song, ‘Strangers‘, only cements this, as it’s quite easy to envision this one being played on a stadium stage to tens of thousands. Paradigm’s countless differences from the rest of the bands fronting the rock scene right now can only be considered a blessing rather than a curse, as all their talents can and will be put to use in seeing them rise straight to the top.
The EP rounds off nicely with ‘The Miracle‘ — bittersweet for the fact that it is a killer song, starting off gently then going for a big finish, but then the EP ends abruptly. While it is logical to put an EP out as your first release, Paradigm have enough talent to fill a full-release and then some… so we can but hope for the future!
