Having only formed in 2014, it’s quite impressive that London five-piece More Than Most have already impressed crowds at Takedown Festival and Camden Rocks, sharing the stage with some of the hottest acts in the UK at the moment. After a great year of shows in 2015, the electronic rock band are ready to unleash their debut EP Impossible Is Temporary.
Maybe we’re just not the right target group for this band, but this EP feels extremely jaded. The sound isn’t necessarily anything that would turn heads. It’s stuff that’s been done before far too many times by far too many bands. By no means is it a bad record, but when put against a bunch of other bands, we’d probably struggle to pick them apart.
Take for instance the the opening track More Than Most begins with ‘You’re Not Alone’. There’s definitely a resemblance to a Linkin Park vibe, but it fails to keep our attention for long. Rather generic and leaves you wondering when “the good part” of the song will begin. The following track ‘Remember Who You Are’ is very fast tempo and at first shows the potential of a good track, but unfortunately feels like it just ends up flatlining until it moves into the following track.
‘Save Me From Myself’ is a step forward, it is atmospheric, catchy and lends itself very well to a dance along. Final track on the EP is ‘Nightmares’, which happens to be their latest single is probably the most memorable on the records. It’s the explosive type of electronic infused rock that bands like PVRIS have found so much success with.
Overall, it would be unfair to say that Impossible Is Temporary is a bad EP, because it isn’t. Clearly, the band have also found their crowd, playing festivals and sold out shows across the South of England. It seems that More Than Most are here to stay, we just hope the next release will be a little more unpredictable.
