Grammy nominated UK producer MNEK has finally released his debut EP. To some, it may be surprising that this is his debut release, especially since he’s been on the music scene writing and producing for other artists for a while now. The EP titled ‘Small Talk’ is a 6 track record full of, what Miley Cyrus would probably describe as, complete “Bangerz!”.

From ready, set, go the record makes you want to move and dance. The EP opener ‘Every Little Word‘ is so funky, with a slight Daft Punk vibe to it, it’s infectious beat and repetitive lyrics make the perfect disco-dance track getting you hyped for ‘More Than A Miracle‘ with it’s 90’s garage throwback feel. The EP’s highest point is his latest single ‘The Rhythm‘ which became his first UK top 40 solo single and it’s no suprise with it’s irresistible production keeping you on your feet.

The EP starts to calm you down a little with it’s last two songs, ‘In Your Clouds‘ and ‘Suddenly‘, which both have a more chilled tone to them. ‘In Your Clouds’ is a romantic, flirty song with playful dreamy lyrics that make you melt while ‘Suddenly’ is a lot darker and mysterious.

If this is a little taster of what an MNEK album might sound like in the future, then this guy is going to influence and produce incredible records. The flow of the EP is flawless and contains absolutely no tracks just to fill up the numbers. MNEK is one exciting talent on the UK scene that we can’t wait to hear and see more of.
