Who knew one man and his guitar could captivate an audience so well? Because that’s exactly what Tyler Hilton did when he played an intimate gig at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth on Thursday night.
The American singer who is probably most commonly known for playing the role of Chris Keller on hit TV show One Tree Hill played a range of up-tempo songs as well as some more soulful tracks, making it a very memorable night.
He performed a majority of songs from his latest album ‘Forget The Storm’ including ‘You’ll Ask For Me’, ‘Jenny’ and ‘Prince of Nothing Charming’, as well as the beautiful ‘Missing You’ from the One Tree Hill soundtrack.
Tyler interacted well with the crowd, telling them about the Indian restaurant he went to for dinner and even took song requests from the audience. As well as meeting all his fans after the gig, one lucky girl got to join Tyler on stage to duet with him during the beautiful ‘When The Stars Go Blue’. She wasn’t the only one to perform alongside him though, as support band Paighton were also invited back up on stage to perform ‘Kicking My Heels’ with Tyler.
Two of the favourite moments of the night though was his performance of the country inspired ‘California’ as well as a great rendition of Rihanna’s hit track ‘Stay’. Unfortunately, the night had to draw to a close and Tyler ended it on a high with ‘Loaded Gun’, with many disappointed that it was over already.
Overall it was a fantastic night and while Tyler mentioned he’d never been to Portsmouth before, let’s hope it’s not too long before he returns for another unforgettable show.
