The last time I saw The Peel this crowded was when The Bronx played a riot-ridden UK. This time however, the riots were brought to Kingston courtesy of Title Fight, Balance and Composure and Transit.
Transit were first to hit the stage unleashing songs from their new album ‘Listen & Forgive‘. Despite the crowd being unusually tame at the start, it was only a matter of minutes before the sing-a-longs started and Transit continued to impress, reeling off more songs from their latest release.
This was Balance and Composure’s first time on these shores and tonight they didn’t fail to impress. Although they were arguably the lesser known of the three bands, the expectations of their fans were high after the band’s first full-length release ‘Separation’. Despite their more melodic sound, there was wall-to-wall appreciation and it’ll never be too soon for this band to return.
A massive ovation greets Title Fight as they fly straight into ‘Coxton Yard’ followed by ‘Shed’ (which is also the title of their latest release). Not one person is stood still on the main floor and it’s pretty much a stream of constant stage dives from start to finish. Highlights of the set were ‘Memorial Field’ and the set-closing ’27’. Title Fight are one of the best melodic hardcore bands the East Coast has to offer and I for one cannot wait for the autumn album release that Shane (guitarist) promised us in our exclusive interview.
Tonight was a successful end to their first full UK headline tour, and the support acts earned their place alongside them. Balance and Composure have already been confirmed for Hevy Fest next summer and with Transit planning to tour in various countries around the world, we can only hope they’ll stop by on the way.
