Live Review: Canterbury – The Cavern, Exeter – 29/01/12

HTF hit up our local venue The Cavern in Exeter to watch sweet rockers Canterbury excite their audience. Check out what we thought of their performance here..

Band: Canterbury
Support: Proxies and Straight Lines
Venue: The Cavern, Exeter
Date: 29/01/12

Being so early in the year, the shock of seeing such an epic line up within our mitts was a welcome surprise that warmed our cockles. Before you have a chance to even get over last Christmas, be assured these three bands material should be firmly on your Christmas wish list for 2012; tonight’s show was about to blow minds.

First up, Yorkshire four piece Proxies were definitely a shock to the system. Their set was fresh and exciting and witnessed a sea of Devonshire dancing. Rarely can a band boast such a strong partnership of vocal talent, and that is just what this band has to offer. Such an overwhelming sound comes from the both of them as the music the band are portraying is truly exceptional.

The live onslaught of their dubstep influenced sound was clearly impressive for their audience. Not even many DJ’s have the talent to play such music live, so hands down a show worth watching.

With friends such as Hadouken!, Pendulum and The Blackout, HTF predict these guys will be headlining their own shows before long. They were an asset to tonight’s line up and we will be queuing up to hear some more material from this foursome in the future.

Now Straight Lines are another overly satisfying band on tonight’s bill. They are famous for being a tight live suit that fill their venues with jubilant faces. Tonight was no exception; the music these little Welshlings bring to the table is enough to rival any of the big names that stem from their homeland.

Clear highlights from their set were practically their entire discography, with anthems such as newbie track ‘Half Gone’ being a welcome addition to their set list of goodness.

Our ears are not shy to this bands diamonds and we wish to shower as many people as we can to ensure you also become raving Straight Line fanatics.

It was the time we had all been waiting for; after a constant invasion of eargasms it was time to lose yourself in the moment once more. Sweet rock foursome Canterbury rose in estimations after tonight’s performance. The crowd they pulled in was electrified from the word go as they continued to wow us all with constant tuneage.

‘Ready Yet?’ is quite possibly one of the best singles to emerge from a British band so far this year; admittedly it is only January yes, therefore perhaps a quirky statement this early in the year but nevertheless HTF believe it to be embedded firmly within stereos within the next twelve months.

The sound this band portrays is uplifting and sends your body wild with excitement, as not a single person within the room can keep still during their set. The adrenaline buzz from watching their performance is injected deep within your skin, with goose bumps covering your entire body as their hour long show is portrayed.

If it was possible to live those three hours again we guarantee the entire audience would.
