Lil Wayne and DJ Drama again team up to make Dedication 4, a free mixtape to download for the fans. The mixtape was delayed and pushed back to the 30th August. The reason Tuneshi gave in his trailer of the mixtape was not to steal the attention from the release of 2 Chainz debut album, Based On A T.R.U. Story.
Weezy and DJ Drama are kings when it comes to mixtapes and have released to many to name. The two have worked together three times before on previous Dedication volumes. However this time around the selections of instrumentals don’t seem to be as vast as previous projects. The instrumentals are either G.O.O.D Music or MMG hits, with the now common southern Hip Hop beat. This is slightly disappointing as Weezy’s last mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait had a collection of vast and different instrumentals like Kreayshawn and Adele.
However, lyrically Wayne is still at the top with his hilarious metaphors and clever word play throughout the mixtape.The best pieces of word play are from his covers of Meek Mill’s tracks ‘Burn’, DJ Khaled’s ‘I Wish You Would‘ and his and Nicki’s Cover of the track ‘Mercy‘. This project isn’t his best, and doesn’t compare to mixtapes like Da Drought 3 or No Ceilings, but after all these years he still delivers what the fans want.
After a week of listen I think it’s safe to say the mixtape rating is 3 out of 5, but feel free to download the mixtape from here and see how you feel about it.
