Lilium, the baby-faced alt-rock quartet hailing from the south-west, are already making some noticeable waves in the scene despite their relative youthfulness. However their sound is far from the modern music being peddled by many of the younger bands around these days, having more in common with people like Jeff Buckley or Pearl Jam.
Their latest single ‘Disappear‘ channels the spirit of the Late Great Mr. Buckley in extreme quantities. The floating vocals over the staccato arpeggiated clean guitar leads is something fans of most rock music should enjoy, and when the track builds into the great waves of intensity that it does, it has enough power to contrast with the cleaner moments and make the track feel more diverse in the same way.
As an uplifting track revolving around the builds that are created a couple of times by the vocals and guitar/keyboard interlay, ‘Disappear’ is a very promising track from Lilium, not to mention an interesting start point; from here there are many directions their sound could go in, and that alone is almost as exciting as the track itself.
