To sum up Nothing’s Wrong Here early on it’s a post-hardcore album that is both nicely executed, but without any real ambition to push it to the heights. If anything the title itself explains the album perfectly, there isn’t anything inherently wrong with the album, it’s perfectly made, but it’s not different enough to really make it a highlight of the year, or anything more than is essentially an average post-hardcore album.
Disembarked hail from Sweden, a country which although is probably more known for its black metal scene, also brings to the table the likes of Refused, and that is a high barrier to reach for anyone let alone their fellow countrymen.
Nothing’s Wrong Here is the perfect example of a technically sound album. From the first track ‘Body of a Ghost, Arms of a Man’ to ‘Weekend Chaser’, each track blends hardcore vocals, hard hitting drums and atmospheric guitar tones together nicely into what is inherently a very easy listening experience if you’re a fan of the genre. Although, if you’re not attuned to the sort of music Disembarked play, chances are this won’t be the sort of album to drawn new fans in.
The one true problem the album has is there isn’t that one track, that big hook that draws you into the album and keeps your attention for any real period of time. What you’re offered up here is more of something that you can float along to easily without really getting bored, but at the same time nothing to make the album one of your top favourites.
There are hints here and there that Disembarked can become a lot more than just another generic post-hardcore band. The slight post-rock feel to a number of tracks, like in the start of ‘Weekend Chaser’ is certainly something a little different, and if they were to blend that area into the darker and heavier areas the band tend to visit then there might just be something there to set this band apart from everyone else, but as it stands, there’s nothing really on offer to draw your attention from the other stellar offerings being placed in front of ourselves.
