Buried in Verona brings something quite fresh to the metalcore scene, bringing the certainty that this particular sub-genre can send you dancing whilst you wait for your public transport to arrive. Their new album Faceless brings you to the point of mouthing the words to yourself in public as people stare at you like you’re a complete looney with headphones on.
The Sydney based band have brought to the table an album that makes you feel like you’re in a teenage rebellion movie, sticking it up to the man with all your might as you listen to songs such as ‘Illuminate’ and ‘Graves’. Each song has something different to the other, some bringing the rebellion feeling higher, some letting you think and enjoy the space around you, such as one of their softer songs of the EP; Set me on fire.
As a whole the technicality of the album is amazing, it makes you enjoy the nowaday producing, mixing, and the freedom to try something new and succeeding greatly. The lyrics also adding to the magic. Some making you think, ‘oh my, that is true about today’s society’ or simply, ‘Damn, life is what we make it!’ or just simply a very detailed cuss word to the whole world because…Why not? Also the instruments and vocals are cleverly in sync and the vocals equally sharing the clean with the screams to create a positive vibe.
In conclusion, this album is a worth a listen, especially if you want something new to listen to and something to add to your music collection. Also if you want something to dance too but still beholds that metalcore feel with those creative lyrics that everyone loves, then this EP is worth the 40 minutes of listening time.
