With Beartooth’s last London headline show being at the Borderline, the Electric Ballroom was a massive step up for the Americans. But there was no doubt in any of our minds that Caleb and the gang would tear Camden to pieces; after all they’d just finished a European tour with Bring Me The Horizon, so they’d had plenty of practice.
As the spotlights give way to complete darkness, the rumbling tension hits us before we catch sight of the five figures who emerge on stage. Disgusting’s opening track ‘The Lines’ starts the mid-week party in London and gives people permission to go crazy (as if they needed an excuse!)
Circle pits erupt as the band blast through material from their debut full length, from ‘Ignorance is Bliss’ and ‘Dead’, and Caleb observes the intensity of the Tuesday night crowd. Strings of hits scream out to the crowd, ‘Relapsing’, ‘In Between’ and 2012 ‘old’ track ‘Set Me On Fire’. With just one album for now, every track from it is known as much as any other, and each and every track is flawlessly tight, with Caleb’s vocals as heavy as always.
As the encore kicks in, the mass insanity of ‘Body Bag’ kicks in, the kind of track that gets everyone to sing along even though they might not be that familiar with the bands material. We’ve said it time and time again, but Beartooth are one of those bands who are always on top form, and we’re just itching to hear new material. Hurry up album number two!
