After missing Bad Omen’s debut UK tour this summer we were excited to hear that the US metalcore newcomers were coming back to the UK ready to play the same venue they slayed just a few month’s prior.
From the moment we heard the band’s latest album we knew they were onto a winning formula, with a sound very reminiscent of early Bring Me The Horizon, but with even stronger vocals than Oli Sykes. Sadly though not enough people know about Bad Omens so while there was a number of hardcore fans crammed close to the stage at the Tuffnell Park venue it wasn’t as rammed as the band deserved it to be. Considering the number of people the atmosphere was electric and Bad Omens wasted no time jumping straight into tracks from their debut album such as ‘Glass Houses’ and ‘Exit Wounds’.
With just one album worth of material to choose from their headline set is relatively short but it just meant more concentrated energy. Each song screams passion and enthusiasm as the band pump through track after track. Most of the crowd that are there scream back every single word from the massive anthem ‘The Worst In Me’ through to closing track ‘The Letdown’ where frontman Noah shows how much he can push his vocals. ‘Feral’ causes a mass sing-a-long full of heavy guitars and as much movement as you’d expect at a small show.
Bad Omens are one of those bands who appeal to fans of all sub-genres and while they may have only come to the UK twice but they’re destined for bigger and better stages. If their debut album is anything to go by they’re going to be huge.
