Forming in 2005, unique metalcore band Attila has released 5 albums, and toured extensively. They’ve gained a lot of worldwide attention, from fans, press, and well… haters.

It’s no secret that Attila tends to rub a lot of people the wrong way, with their offensive lyrics, rude tweets, and just general “Suck my fuck” attitude. But for every 1 hater Attila has, there are 5 Capri-Sun loving fans, headbanging along to the beat of their inappropriate drum. And these are the people that are going to love their newest album, Guilty Pleasure.

Opening track ‘Pizza, Sex and Trolls’ in true Attila fashion, begins as crazy, and chaotically, as humanly possible. The song features an intricate guitar solo, which has a very classic rock feel to it. In the song, vocalist Chris “Fronz” Fronzak takes the opportunity to thank everyone for buying the CD, and addresses his haters in a very clever Fronz way.

The lyric “I don’t give a fuck about my bad reputation” opens second track ‘Hate Me’, a song that even Joan Jett would headbang to. The heavy breakdowns, violent drums, and repetition of the words “Hate me” makes it one catchy-ass song. Wait, is it possible to sing, air guitar, headbang, and swing chains in the pit at the same time? Because that’s exactly what you’ll want to do when you hear this song.

Frontman Fronz says, “Musically, this is the heaviest album we’ve ever written. It still has our signature sound but it’s a new refreshing twist”. Songs like ‘Break My Addiction’‘The Cure’ and previously released ‘Horsepig’ feature solid breakdowns, and perfectly placed sound effects. These tracks are typical Attila songs you’d expect to find on the album.

Interludes ‘I Am Satan’ and ‘Don’t Be Basic’ help break up the heavy album. While tracks ‘I’ve Got Your Back’‘Fake Friends’ and previously released ‘Proving Grounds’, are definite hits, standing out amongst the rest. These songs truly highlight the band’s growth, musically, stylistically, and lyrically.

Whether you love them, or hate them, they are definitely a force to be wrecking with (and they’re really funny – the Westboro Baptist Church thing, yes, let’s not forget that!) This new album has classic Attila elements to it, but like always, the band is keeping it fresh, new, and crazier than ever.
