You Me At Six have announced a fresh new string of UK dates for 2017. And whilst we’re very happy about this, we’ve done a little head-scratching about the announcement.
1. There’s a reasonable amount of dates
It feels like we keep seeing bigger bands announcing small tours at big venues, so it’s quite nice to see someone step up and do a run of around 10 dates. Maybe it’s because they’re British and (to be fair to them) still not at the absolute top level, however…
2. The venues are pretty big
Alexandra Palace? You Me At Six? Alexandra Palace has played host to headline tours from Slipknot, Enter Shikari and A Day To Remember in recent memory, and we didn’t realise that You Me At Six were at that level just yet. Admittedly they have been around for flipping ages, and they seem to be in the magazines every other week, but the proof will be in the pudding when it comes to how many people actually buy tickets for this tour.
3. No support announcement
This one perhaps is the least surprising, given that support acts are often worked out after the announcement of the dates (which makes sense) but as of now we don’t know who will be on before them. If you would indulge us some speculation, we think Mallory Knox and Against The Current are likely to make an appearance. Lower Than Atlantis are also probably at least big enough to take on the main support role at such big shows, although they have toured with YM@6 quite a few times in the past.
4. People who pre-ordered their album get first dibs on tickets
Now this is something that doesn’t happen that often. Seeing as the tour is in support of their new album Night People, people who have preordered the album get the chance to buy tickets four days in advance, on Halloween, whereas the rest of us scrubs have to wait until Thursday November 4th to buy tickets.
Tickets go on sale at 7pm. See you all there!
