Continuing on with her theme of keeping all things pink, Nicki Minaj‘s highly anticipated third album is entitled The Pinkprint . The 16-track record is packed with a eclectic range of both dance-pop belters and emotional, stripped-down songs plus everything in between, giving fans a taste of all the different sides of Minaj.

Kicking off with ‘All Things Go‘, listeners are treated to a track that is in essence, a throwback to the RnB of the 90’s. Minaj showcases her talent and ability to pull off a style that artists like Aaliyah and TLC had the reigns of back then, but putting a modern spin on it – and, of course, there’s that signature Nicki Minaj sound!

Following track ‘I Lied‘ is a similar theme; stripped down, naturally beautiful vocals coinciding with stunning, blazing bars. ‘Get On Your Knees‘, on the other hand, enlists the help of actress-turned-singer Ariana Grande who has worked with Minaj before on Jessie J‘s hit ‘Bang Bang‘. ‘Get On Your Knees‘ is less likely to start a party but instead be the soundtrack to that 3am comedown with its chilled out beat and quiet vocals.

Beyoncé is in the house next, with her feature on the track ‘Feeling Myself‘. This hip-hop anthem that throws together the queen of pop with the queen of rap is certain to have fans raving when they hear it (more than they already have been in anticipation!) and by the end of it you’ll surely know what Minaj is all about with this new material.

Nearing the end of the album is ‘Trini Dem Girls‘, featuring Lunchmoney Lewis. Here, Minaj returns to her roots with an approach that uses elements of dancehall and soca to really mix things up. Proving her versatility has never been an issue for Nicki Minaj and this is a prime example.

Four singles have already been released from the album; ‘Pills N Potions‘, ‘Anaconda‘, ‘Only‘ and ‘Bed Of Lies‘ which have already served to assure the world that Nicki Minaj is the new frontier of rap with her ability to blend pop hooks and old school styles in to her music, as well as invite some of her famous friends to do phenomenal features.

In summary, The Pinkprint lives up to its expectations and is sure to wow both fans and casual listeners upon its release. If you’re looking for something a bit different from the standard, mundane pop album then be sure to pick it up!
