MOBO award winning recording artist Victor “Victizzle” Akata releases the second single from his brand new, 7 track EP ‘Misfit’, titled ‘Rumours‘.
With a background story that takes in the accolade of biggest ever Gospel single and a tour that has gone as far as St Lucia, it seems only fitting that we caught up with Victizzle for a quick chat.
‘Rumours‘ is the second single from the EP, and sees Vic riding a half-tempo, pulsating instrumental with an effortlessly charismatic delivery. The single is accompanied by a cartoon-styled video courtesy of director Aaron Adeleke, and is set to ensure Victizzle continue’s building his name within the mainstream arena.
HTF: Hi Victizzle, how are you?
Victizzle: Hey Hit Floor Mag! I’m all good thanks!! How are you? :-)
HTF: Latest single ‘Rumours’ is doing the rounds? What has the reception been like?
Victizzle: It’s not been bad at all… it’s a different side of me that I’m showing but people seem to like the song. There have been a few negative comments, but that’s understandable. Can’t please ’em all LOL
HTF: Have you ever started a rumour?
Victizzle: Erm…Yes, quite a few times in primary school and secondary school lol, I remember telling a few friends that the spice girls were gonna be at my birthday party! That rumour spread around so fast, I think that even I myself began to believe it. Unfortunately, they didn’t turn up.
HTF: ‘Rumours’ is taken from the EP ‘Misfits’, can you describe the EP for those who have yet to listen to it?
Victizzle: Yes, the EP is really just me as both a producer and artist, just presenting myself to the listeners as raw as I can. You can hear me fighting against a lot of negativity that had been going through and just accepting myself as I truly am. There is a lot of boldness and confidence in this EP as well as great production from myself all to keep my fans and supporters going till the 2nd album drops in the summer.
HTF: You started in the Gospel Music scene, where you did a lot of big things, what made you decide to break into the mainstream?
Victizzle: Yes! I produced for a lot of artists in the Gospel music scene, we built up the scene, made a few milestones and historical events, won a few mobs, toured etc. Those were very excellent times, but I just really feel that it’s time to take things further into the mainstream. A lot of people assume that my morals will change and I’ll stop talking about God etc, but that will never change. I may just talk about him in a way that’s more relatable to people outside of church.
HTF: You’ve worked with artists such as Ghetts and Snakeyman, but if there was one person you could work alongside today who would that be and why?
Victizzle: I’m a massive fan of Timbaland. I see him as my indirect mentor when it comes to production, so he is someone I would most definitely love to work with. But to be honest I just love working with talented people with a great drive and that wanna see lives inspired whilst telling their story in music.
HTF: When your not working on your music how do you like to unwind?
Victizzle: I love watching movies, going to the cinema, spending time with my family and my missus, and mainly spending time with God. He always makes me feel better about things.
