He’s a writer, not a rapper. He’s doesn’t make hip hop music but what we do know is that he is a talented musician who set for great things in 2012.We are of course talking about the Mancunian wonder that is Skittles, who has just released his album ‘Poor With £100 Trainers‘. Emilie HTF was very lucky to catch up with him recently, so here is what happened.
HTF: Hello there Skittles, How are you today?
Skilttles: Beltin’
HTF: Safe, now first things first, assuming ‘Skittles’ isn’t actually your Christian name, is it actually inspired by a love of sweets or is there another story behind the name?
Skittles: Do I have to be Christian to have a Christian name? Religion is so far fetched; I based my name on the alignment of the stars.
HTF: Fair play. So you started off your career as a grime/dubstep MC and have moved on more recently into hip-hop. Why the change in path?
Skittles: I don’t make hip-hop, no change in path; I just fucked off those bastard paths all together.
HTF: Interesting. So you have previously stated that you consider yourself to be a ‘writer ‘as apposed to a ‘rapper’. We are certain you get asked this a lot, but what is it about the term ‘rapper’ that makes you feel so unconnected with it?
Skittles: Lyin’ an actin’ really, turn the music off, stop flowin’ an’ just speak your words, that’s when I know I’m a writer like any other.
HTF: Now you have recently collaborated with HTF favourite Dub Phizix on the track ‘’I’m I’m I’m I’m …. I’m a creator’ and we hear that you have a few more collaborations coming up in the near future. Would you like to tell us who with and what you are working on?
Skittles: Nope.
HTF: Oh right… so are there any artists that are getting you pretty excited at the moment? And if so who?
Skittles: ROLLA! From Manchester bout to drop his ep… I swear he’ll be on £state before the years out!
HTF:Now this is the section of the interview where we take things down a notch and get you to answer some more light hearted questions (and I worry for days to see if they actually will post your responses) Are you happy to continue?

HTF: If we were to snatch your IPod/Cassette Player/Portable CD Player, what would be the most embarrassing song on the there?
Skittles: I would merc ya! I’ve never used portable Walkman type things, dunno why! But if I did…. I guess it would be my tunes and that’s pretty embarrassing, but listening to tunes is part of makin’ ’em so if given the chance, I’ll better my own. Get me.
HTF:You never had a portable walkman? Insane. Now, Dub Phizix told HTF he loved us and Strategy referred to HTF as “Slags”. How do you feel about HTF?
Skittles: I feel from the informAtion given….. Dub phizix loves slags! And any friend of his is a friend of mine.
HTF: Charmed. Do you like blondes or Brunettes?
Skittles: No
HTF:Funny…Chips and Gravy, fish and chips or a CORNISH PASTY?
Skittles: A corn wall
HTF:Tasty.Tell us a funny story about someone we know?
Skittles: Dub phizix is a c**t. And he once lit a guy on fire In A party for bein posh. An then just laughed while I got the blame, then the guy got thrown out for being upset about the fact.
HTF: Oh dear we hope this is not the case. Anything you would like to add?
Skittles: They’ve got it in for me.
