This is the year the brilliant Shea explodes on the music scene. The young UK talent has already blessed our ears with her track ‘Where Did You Go‘ late last year. HTF got an exclusive interview with Shea to catch up and see where her career is taking her.
HTF: Hey Shea thanks for spending some time with us here at HTF. First off how are you?
Shea: Hey! I’m great thanks! Really excited actually, lots of things are happening!
HTF: For those that don’t yet know you, can you introduce yourself?
Shea: Sure, my name is Shea, and I’m a singer songwriter from Croydon.
HTF: How did you find yourself in the music industry? Give us a back-story.
Shea: Well, singing and writing is something I’ve always done. The first exposure I had in the industry was when I had the opportunity to write with MJ Cole. The 1st track I did with him was released shortly after, and I went on to feature on lots of other underground dance tracks thereafter
HTF: Which 3 of your songs would you recommend us to listen to?
Shea: ‘Perfectly‘ – It was one of the last house tracks I featured on and is a favourite of mine
Shea: ‘Where Did You Go‘ – This is first single I’m releasing form my forthcoming album§
HTF: With the transition of 2012 what was your highlight of the year?
Shea: It would have to be my visit to Japan. I went on a tour with DJ Kawasaki after doing a track with him. I was thrilled with the response to my songs old and new. I had no idea they knew the music I made all the way of there. It was great fun.
HTF: Have you made any new years resolutions?
Shea: No I haven’t this year. I’m gonna go with the flow.
HTF: What can we except of Shea this year?
Shea: I’ve got lots of live gigs with my amazing band lined up, as well as a few collaboration plans, I’m very excited!
HTF: Is there any projects we should look out for?
Definitely! I’ve got my album Grey Skies & Rainbow Fingernails coming out this year, as well as more singles from the album.
HTF: Who is your biggest inspiration?
Its difficult to say, a toss between Lauryn Hill & Ella Fitzgerald for different reasons…
HTF: What track have you got on repeat at the moment?
Shea: I cant get enough of ‘Honesty‘ by Fink. It’s a new track, but I came across it recently on my ipod and I cant get enough! You should check him out.
HTF: What do you do in your free time?
Shea: My top things are food, wine, coffee & movies. I love to spend quality time with loved ones, so any combination of those things is perfect.
