HTF had a chat with Mikill Pane discussing his new single, new album and the festive season.
HTF: Hey Mikill, thanks for spending some time with us here at HTF. First off how are you?
MP: No problem. I’m fine, thanks. I just woke up.
HTF: For those that don’t yet know you, can you introduce yourself?
MP: Hi, I’m Mikill Pane…
HTF: So we got hold of your newest video, Dirty Rider a couple of weeks ago. The video’s very energetic but what was the best part of making that video?
MP: Using the flares. I’m a closet pyromaniac, which is super-dangerous because closets are usually made of wood. They may also have other valuable things in them, like skeletons, Narnia and loads of gay people that don’t want others to know their sexual preferences.
HTF: From your single straight to your album. ‘Blame Miss Barclay’, what can you tell us about the album?
MP: It’s a conceptual album. There are various characters in it that pop up now and then. Some of them even meet. The title was given in honour of a secondary school English teacher of mine. She always told me to write creatively.
HTF: Working on the new album must be pretty stressful at times so what does Mikill Pane do to chill out?
MP: Smoke and drink. I am a man of simple pleasures. It’s very likely that I’ll go for a bike ride if I want to relax. Only after smoking and drinking though – if they don’t work.
HTF: Right, personal question: what’s your most played track on your iPod?
MP: At the moment, it’s ‘Get Innocuous’ by LCD Soundsystem.
HTF: And what’s the most embarrassing song on your iPod?
MP: ‘Rude Boy’ by Rihanna.
HTF: Now, you have a clothing range but do you come up with all the designs?
MP: Yes, with the help of one of my sisters.
HTF: With Christmas around the corner we were wondering, what’s on your Christmas list this year?
MP: Nothing. I don’t even really like Christmas.
HTF: What’s the worst Christmas present you have ever received?
MP: Christmas itself.
HTF: What was the best Christmas present you have ever received?
MP: Boxing Day.
