HTF: Hi Marger thanks for taking the time out to speak to Hit the Floor, how have you been?

Marger: It’s my pleasure, I’ve more than good, it’s a great feeling to be getting heard

HTF: You recently released the video to ‘Shadows’ which is due to drop on August 21st, what has the reaction to this been like?
Marger: I’ve been kind of shocked by the reaction, it’s gained me playlist across the music channels as well as regular radio play and new supporters, the funny thing is this is just a warm up but I’m really grateful for all the support on this one, it means a lot

HTF: ‘Shadows’ seems to be full of raw emotion when you spit, what does this track mean to you?
Marger: It’s an introduction to the journey I am about to take my supporters on,there will be no meaningless tracks, I’m putting my all in to the music I am making.

HTF: With the inclusion of Molly (who is incredible by the way) you seemed to have made a track that will be listened to by more than one genre, would you be looking at maybe crossing over to the mainstream in the future?
Marger: Definitely but it is not a conscious decision, I am just making the music that I enjoy making and whether it sounds more commercially acceptable or not is nothing to do with the creative process. Pop music just means something is popular and if Shadows sounds like more of a “popular” then I can’t complain.

HTF: You’ve got your Cheeky EP out soon, can you give us any information on that, is there a release date and who can we expect to feature?
Marger: No release date as yet, it’s all pretty much wrapped up but for me it’s about quality over quantity, so there will be some tweeks before it’s ready. As far as features go,just know I picked the right people for the right tunes and there will be some VERY unexpected collabs on there.

HTF: With all this going on where can we catch you live in the next couple of months?
Marger: Big up my supporters from Czech, I’ll be heading back over there again real soon, you can also catch me down at the iluvlive industry special on Sept 5th and I’ll be out and about at lot’s of other raves around the country so keep your eyes out.

HTF: You’ve signed up to battle LayZ on Lord of the Mics 3, how important do you think Lord of the Mics is to the Grime Scene?
Marger: It’s very important but more for the culture as supposed to the actual battles, whoever isn’t taking part is obviously not in touch with their grime roots.

HTF: I remember the first time I watched Lord of the Mics, the re-loads, the pausing whilst your cried with laughter and the arguing with your friends over who won, what would you say is your most memorable Lord of the Mics battle?
Marger: I’d say Rage and Fudaguy, Esco cracked me up lol, R.I.P Esco

HTF: A few months ago you decided that you wanted to quit the scene and now you’ve come back and just completely gone innnnnnn, big tracks such as Alright, Boom Bye Bye, Shadows and your free Sneaky EP,what inspired you to come back so focused?
Marger: The people around me, I have a good strong team, Donatella was a huge support to me so I want to thank her for everthing she’s done, also big up Hij at Grimeforum, also my boys never stopped supporting and of course all my supporters #MargersArmy, all those things made me come back harder than ever.

HTF: Looking beyond the Cheeky EP what does the future hold for Marger?
Marger: A STRONG album, a tour and maybe my face on the side of the bus I used to get on lol

HTF: Once again thanks for taking time out to speak to us, is there anything else you would like to add?
Marger: Make sure you follow me on twitter so you can keep on the kushwave @itzmarger, also don’t forget Shadows along with the Preditah and Lewi White remixes will be available on the 21st August so make sure you all support, thanks.
