Britain’s biggest Afrobeat export Fuse ODG received nominations for Best Newcomer, Best African Act and Best Video for MOBO Awards 2013!
This follows on from the overwhelming response to Fuse’s debut single release ‘Antenna’ which reached #5 in the charts and became a firm favourite across Radio 1 and 1Xtra while selling over 200,000 copies to date and garnering close to 7 million YouTube video views. This year has also seen Fuse perform a show stopping set at Wireless festival and support the likes of Sean Paul, Eve, Ke$ha and Wyclef Jean at their recent shows.
25 year old Fuse ODG, real name Nana Richard Abiona, is of Ghanian descent but raised in South East London after returning as a teen. While many of his peers abandoned education and succumbed to fatal gang culture, Fuse sought to offer a more constructive outlet – music. While studying for his degree in Business Management, Fuse used his skills as a producer to set up London Mobile Studios (LMS), a company focused on providing young people with a positive outlet whereby they can channel creativity into making music. Fuse’s ethos on positivity is evident in his music also which has seen him perform to crowds of tens of thousands across Africa and Europe (from Ghana and Nigeria through to Amsterdam and Belgium) and has already seen him rewarded with an Urban Music Award and nomination Ghana Music Awards. Sonically, Fuse’s style is as unique and distinctive as it is universal. Combining African influences with a global pop sensibility, his sound is destined for worldwide success.
Fuse is set to release his second single ‘Azonto’ at the end of September via 3Beat Records. ‘Azonto’ has already achieved widespread underground support and club staple and it’s now set to cross over in a major way and take over from when ‘Antenna’ left off!
