Snoozebox Hotel – Glamping At Glastonbury Festival 2014 | Review

We took at stay at Snoozebox Hotel at this years Glastonbury Festival. Is this the future of glamping?

Let’s face it, the festival camping experience isn’t for everyone. There can be a lot of mud, a lot of rain and some people just can’t live without their home comforts and find the idea of a weekend in a tent the thing of nightmares. Over the years a solution to this had evolved in the form of ‘Glamping’, or in simple terms ‘posh camping’. You can now enjoy luxuries such as beds, locking doors and even power supplies to charge your mobile in a selection of Yurts and Podpads available, which you will find these days at most of the major music festivals.

Now one company has gone a step further to provide the ultimate festival experience with the introduction of, Snoozebox: a festival hotel made entirely from large metallic storage containers. And when we say hotel, we mean hotel. Snoozebox were kind enough to put us up for the weekend at this years Glastonbury Festival to see what they were all about.

Once inside our giant container room, we were greeted with quite a surprise – a double bed, a single bed, a full wet-room with shower, sink and toilet, power sockets, storage cupboards, safe, air conditioning, and to top it all off….a flatscreen television! Yes, we had a TV! As well as this Snooezbox comes with free wi-fi and a bar/reception with complementary breakfast, and food and drink available throughout the day. The fact some of the acts appearing over the weekend were also staying here as well really pushed home this was next-level glamping.

With the Snoozebox based just slightly outside the Glastonbury Festival site, we even had on-call chauffeurs that would take us to and from the festival site in a BMW.

As much as we did feel like we were cheating the festival experience a little, staying in the Snoozebox did have some huge perks. Firstly, if your someone who likes to take your camera or any expensive belongings along with you, it was nice to know they were always secure and you could even leave things like your phone charging while you enjoyed the bands; after all tents are never the best place to leave stuff lying around.

Also, the shower was a god-send. Yes, you could queue for ages to use the festival showers but when coming back from a tomato fight – yes, this happened – the last thing you want to do stand around for ages waiting to get clean. No messing around with a Snoozebox. Straight in the shower, and can get dry while watching The Big Bang Theory on E4.

It also has to be said, all the staff at Snoozebox, and the BMW staff, were exceptional, and throughout the weekend were always incredibly polite, helpful and friendly. Charlie and the team really made you feel at home and were always on call 24 hours a day to sort anything you needed. A great team can really make the difference to any business and Snoozebox, we are happy to say you have a good bunch!

All-in-all the Snoozebox experience was a great one. We think the only real grumble would be that the location was probably a bit too far away at times and they could do with getting more into the festival and trying to re-locate more on site. Being quite the festival explorers it was sometimes a killer on the feet having to walk from the south-east corner to the gate to be picked up. Being newcomers to the music festival world though, Snoozebox originally being set-up for motor racing events, I’m sure this is something they will look to improve.

If your looking for the ultimate in glamping with all your home comforts then Snoozebox is definitely worth a look-in!

Prices start at £1,995 per room for five nights, based on two sharing.
