TotalRock is the UK’s leading online radio station which was launched in 2000 by Radio 1 ‘Friday Rock Show’ creator Tony Wilson, the legendary ‘Voice of Metal’ Tommy Vance and the ultimate metal guru, journalist and author Malcolm Dome. From 1st December they will becoming Bloodstock Radio.
Announcing the pioneering between the two leading lights in the UK rock and metal scene was Paul Gregory, Bloodstock’s Festival Director who said “What an exciting development for Bloodstock and its fans. The best metal festival in the country is now the best rock & metal radio station in the country as well! At Bloodstock HQ we are really excited about the possibilities this joint venture offers and, I am sure, it will develop even further”.
TotalRock programme controller Tony Wilson added “The provision of a year-round festival radio station is a ground-breaking move, and one that sees both TotalRock and Bloodstock continue their track records of innovation and support for rock and metal music. Our Award-winning roster of TotalRock DJs will be joined by many of the voices already well known to the BOA community to serve up an unrivalled feast of metal and rock. We shall also continue to provide our up-to-the-minute news service and daily newsletter under the Bloodstock banner.”
Bloodstock festival was established in 2001 as an indoor event and was replaced with Bloodstock open air in 2005. The festival celebrated it’s most successful year this summer with appearances from Alice Cooper, Machine Head and Behemoth. Building a radio station around the award winning high rising festival will strengthen the links between the festival with not only its exisiting fan community but will also spread the gospel of rock and metal music to others in the UK and across the globe.
