The First are a melodic rock band from Cambridgeshire. They have toured relentless over the past year or so in promotion of their debut ‘Swimming with Sharks’.
Their singe ‘Take It Back’ gives everyone a small peak into what their album will sound like. We were lucky enough to catch up with them after they played their headline show in London just before they set off on the Ourzone Tour with I Divide.
The band will be doing a live performance at the Destroy Everything launch party this Thursday at Camden’s Black Heart so get yourself along if you can.

HTF: For anyone who hasn’t heard your music, how would you describe yourselves
The First: A band that love to play music. Check us out and then you can see for yourselves.. :)
HTF: When you started out as a band did you find your home town was accessible for the music scene?
TF: Our home town has literally no scene, so we started putting on our own shows. we always treated every show we play as a home town show!
HTF: How are you preparing for the our zone tour?
TF: We’ve spent the last month putting together a new set and live show. We are trying out a few new songs for this tour too.
HTF: Your new album is due out later this year. Will you premier any of the new tracks on the tour?
TF: Yeah we’ve got a few club bangers for you!
HTF: How would you say your sound has progressed from first album ‘Swimming with Sharks’?
TF: its more of everything. heavier, harder and more diverse.
HTF: You’re playing download festival, how excited are you?
TF: We are super happy to be doing it! Literally more excited than we’ve ever been.
HTF: Do you reckon you will hang around for the whole weekend?
TF: For sure.
HTF: Are there any bands you’re looking forward to seeing there?
TF: Such a great line up! Slipknot. Bizkit .Rammstein. Papa roach. A day to remember
HTF: Are there any other festivals you’d really love to play?
TF: Hevy is always fun and next year HTD and Slamdunk would be good
HTF: Finally what does the rest of 2013 hold in store for The First?
TF: The new album is our main focus but mostly we are having massive fun.
